2019 Online Quilters Meet & Greet

Welcome to Sew Much Charm, formerly the My Charmed Cabin Life blog!

We are launching our new website and we are super excited to be apart of the 2019 Online Quilters Meet & Greet!

2019 Online Quilters Meet & Greet

A huge THANK YOU to Benita Skinner for inviting me to participate in this year’s Online Quilters Meet & Greet!  In case you haven’t heard of this awesome meet & greet, THERE ARE PRIZES!  Each blog you visit gets you another entry into the GREAT GRAND PRIZE!  The winners will be announced on October 1st!

If you are new to our blog, please feel free to check us out and enjoy.  Leave a comment, send an email, and sign up for NEW Monthly Newsletter!  You will want to stay connected because we are launching our first ever subscription boxes in time for Christmas deliveries!  Those that have signed up for our newsletter will receive the info first!  Have you made your list, yet?

My name is Sarah and I love quilts & sewing!

I remember my mother sewing in her bedroom and my sister and I on the floor practicing hand sewing and making little pillows for our dolls.  I remember taking a summer class at one of the local high schools for the community to come and learn sewing.  I even tried in college to make my sister a quilt for her wedding day (which is still in a box in the closet as a UFO – Unfinished Object).  It wasn’t until I met my now husband’s mother who, when I met her, had a sewing machine on her kitchen table and a quilt in pieces on her table.  She encouraged me to learn again and she helped me put together my first official quilt, which I gifted to my niece for Christmas.  If was so small, it literally just laid on the top of her bed, without any room to drape down the bed.  She still loved it!

I literally bought a sewing machine on Amazon while I was visiting her and it was delivered when I returned.  The bug stuck.  If you want to have a great relationship with your MIL, you quilt….as in my case.  LOL.

Quilting is addicting.

I then made two full size “Minecraft” quilts for my nephews without a pattern and just using a picture of their favorite character from the game.

I started my blog as a creative outlet in 2017, when I became a stay-at-home mom.  I began to share on my personal Facebook page all of the quilts and quilt blocks I just loved and before I knew it, I had people asking me to make them a quilt!  Before long my little machine was wearing down and I started researching sewing machines and became a lover of the vintage Singer Featherweight.  Now, I piece all of my quilts on a Singer Featherweight and even quilt my Tiny Quilts on them too!  Notice I said “them”.  Don’t tell my hubby.

Be sure to check out our FREE 2019 Back to the Basics Block of the Month Page!  On the first of every month, I post step by step directions on how to make a new block.  This year we have focused on building our skills back from making simple blocks.  Be sure to join in and share your progress!  Use the hashtag #mcclbom when posting!  In December we will have 12 blocks that all measure 12.5″ unfinished ready to be pieced together for a great Sampler Quilt Top!  For September, I will post the BOM on the 5th so you can come back and join in the fun!

We are also launching a 3-month & a 6-month subscription box, ready for Christmas delivery!  Each box will have the latest fabrics & notions with a retail value of $60.00.  Yours for only $45/month plus $6 shipping.  You can sign up for the 3-month subscription box for $135.  That’s a savings of $45!  The 6-month subscription box is $270 with a savings of $90!  The first box will ship December 16th – just in time for Christmas!  Interested?  Sign up for the monthly newsletter and you will be the first to know when sign up is available!

I’m also a brand new REBECCA PAGE PATTERNS Brand Ambassador so you will see lots of great new patterns sewn on the blog along with my other favorites!

You can follow our blog on Bloglovin’, Facebook, and Instagram!  Just click the links and you will go to our Facebook Page & Instagram Page!

Be sure to sign up for our monthly newsletter too!

AND…If you are in the Houston, Texas area…come check out one of my favorite charity quilt shows on November 9, 2019 in little Hempstead, Texas.  The Knights of Columbus will host the 10th Annual Charity Quilt Show at their KC Hall.  This little organization has raised over $100,000 in ten years to help those in their own communities in Waller County and surrounding areas.  Please check out their Facebook Page and follow for all of the information and updates on vendors and fun activities that are planned with this exciting quilt show.  I will definitely be there!

Happy Quilting!

Nice to read about how you got into quilting. I also want to let you know that I don’t see a link for entering the grand prize on your blog and Benita says you have to enter from the link on each blog. Am I the only one that doesn’t see it? Clicking on the Meet & Greet links above do not take you to the entry page.

P.S. Your post doesn’t have a direct link to the “Great Grand Prize” entry page on Benita’s blog. Maybe you could correct that?

    • My Charmed Cabin Life on September 5, 2019 at 9:58 am

It was just corrected! Try again please and let me know if it doesn’t work still…I want everyone to be able to enter for the great prizes Benita has for everyone….

  12. Jayne Honnold on September 6, 2019 at 11:27 am

Hi Sarah! I am Jayne from the Meet and Greet. It is wonderful meeting you! I have a Featherweight, and have not used it much. I bought it in April on eBay. I do love it and need to use it more. I make quilts for others, too, and mostly it’s been t-shirt quilts, lately. I don’t advertise, and I do exercise restraint, as I don’t take on so many that it becomes a chore. Glad to know you!

    • My Charmed Cabin Life on September 7, 2019 at 1:03 am

Thank you so much! I love my Featherweight! I have done a lot of memory quilts as well as new custom one of a kind quilts…t-shirt quilts make me nervous still. Maybe I will try it next year! This year is pretty packed with client quilts and I don’t see my schedule slowing down very much. It’s really nice to meet you!

  13. Lisa on September 7, 2019 at 1:27 pm
