Happy New Years!
Can you believe it? We made it. 2022 is finally here! So long 2021 - This year has to be better! Right? It's been rough - but it's going to get better. I'm going to will it so. LOL.
Sew Much Charm has always had a yearly theme. Last year it was to build our stash back from 2020. I feel like I have been able to replace my fabric and build my thread color wall in 2021. I have so many projects that I want to do - that now that I have the UFOs...and many that I haven't even started.
I also want to learn about paper piecing. Anyone else?
2022 is going to be about GETTING OUR PROJECTS DONE!
Just to make sure I get my projects done - I'm inviting you to join me in getting yours done too! Here's the tentative schedule I've mapped out for the year. Yep. I'm a planner. That doesn't mean this is carved into stone either....we are flexible and depending on which fabrics & supplies are available means we may need to adjust the calendar. But in case you are a planner too - you can start organizing your projects too!
For all of the updates - be sure to follow our website or check our Facebook page! I'm not very good about sending out emails...I try to stay away from them honestly because there are so many businesses that will send them out daily and bog down your email box. I'm not trying to be a spammer...so honestly, checking our website or the Facebook page is the best bet.
2022 will be a busy year - but it will also be a year of getting tasks checked off our list! I'm super excited! I hope you are too!
What's your New Years Resolutions? I would ultimately be thrilled to do one a month - but we all know life gets in the way. So my expectation will be 4 UFOs/Projects for the year. I do have a 4 year old....who by the way, will be 5 on January 12th! (I'm letting Bailey have her own sale, btw!)
Check back every month for all the details on that month's projects! We will post all the details for the project/UFO & also share details for that month's GIVEAWAY! You will not want to miss this!
Comment below with which UFO you have in your stash that you would like to finish FIRST this year to be entered into our FIRST GIVEAWAY!
I want to rent some longarm time (and obviously learn how to use it first) so I can finish the 5-6 tops I have. None of them are any more pressing than the others, so I will just say one of them is my fist UFO to finish.
I am making at least two twin size by April 15 for donations and hoping I’ll be good enough to do both of those with the long arm instead of on my little Singer. 😊
I know a few people who would be interested in letting you learn on theirs – if you feel like a drive in my direction!
A tree skirt I started years ago. Now I need to go find it
A new tree skirt is on my list for this year too!
I want to finish a Texas BOM queen sz. quilt that was started 2 years ago.
Oh that will be gorgeous!
I started the North Star quilt by Pat Speth, and really want to finish it in 2022. I also want to learn free motion quilting, and QAYG.
This is great! I can’t wait to see them!
I have a flannel winter theme quilt that I need to put together.
Oh I can’t wait to see!
I have 2 UFO that need the binding sewn on the back. That is where I plan to start.
Oh I forgot about those! I should finish those up too! Thank you for the reminder! LOL
I’d like to finish my granddaughter’s frozen quilts that I started when the first frozen came out. Lol
She’s going to love them!
My mom was a beautiful needlewoman who took up quilting when she retired. When she got frail, she gifted a lot of her fabrics to a neighborhood group. I inherited the rest after she died. In 2021 I started learning to quilt! I finished one of mom’s ufo last year – an embroidered lap quilt. This year I want to finish a square that is half done – a hand quilted heart made from feathers and cross hatching. It will be a 50th wedding anniversary gift for my brother and sister in law.
Oh wow!
I bet it’s just beautiful!
I want to finish my matching wall hangings of the lipstick and nail polish set.
That sounds super cute! I can’t wait to see it.
I would love you finish my first quilt, that I’ve been working for the past year! Seems I like spend most of my time ripping things out. I would also like to learn about paper piecing.
Well, lets make it a realty this year!
What UFO do I want to finish? Ah, My studio? lol. It’s been 3-4 years since I started, sorta, repairing/cleaning.organizing it . I have stacks of fabric Everywhere… Projects started and abandoned….. fabric still in bags from store. batting piled in corners, in boxes.. You name it, it’s piled somewhere in the studio. Quilts that are in various stages…and some quilting supplies still in the Shop/Garage….lol… I just ran out of”Want-to”. So, I am sucking it up and starting this week.. to go out at least once a day to do Something out there. Clean….sew….or just stare into the abbess…. lol..
I think that may be an ongoing process for me…LOL.
Going to attempt to quilt a oversized lapquilt.
You can totally do it!
I have a 3D small wall hanging I designed and started making last summer – I call it “all things are possible” – it’s my in between sewing (personal vs professional) project – so I think I will call that my #1 UFO as I already have a place saved on the wall to hang it. Darn, that means I have to quilt it too 🤦♀️ Does that count as two UFO’s?
I can’t wait to see it!
Last year sent me a lot of “hard times”. I finally got back to my sewing room this week. To get started sewing again is my new years resolution. I started counting my UFO’s and stopped at 21!!!! Now I will prioritize them and my goal is no new projects until some are finished. I doubt this will happen as I have already signed up for the Allison Glass sew along!!!! I will, however, get encouragement from a friend of mine who is moving in with me next week from Boston. We met through a sewing Facebook group in 2020 during covid. She has flown out every 4 months or so since then and now is coming to stay….with all her sewing stash!!!! I live in the middle of nowhere and do not have any sewing friends, so I am very excited. And yes, I have plenty of room for her and her stash; my sewing room is 20 x 40 in a 2400 square foot “shed” with a bedroom, bathroom, shower, laundry and full kitchen. So she will have her own “apartment”. My 3500 square foot, 118 year old farm house is on the property so I will still have my “solitude”. I feel this year will be much better with her “keeping me company” I will get a lot done!!!!!
This sounds wonderful! I can’t wait to see what beautiful creations you both make!
I would like to finish my first quilt!!
We will make it happen! Lets stay in touch this year and make sure it happens.
