Vincent’s Garden Blog Hop – Part 2

Welcome Back!

Yesterday we gave you a sneak peak into our modern quilt project featuring the Island Batik fabric line called Vincent's Garden.  Karen Overton, the Quilt Rambler herself, is sponsoring this blog hop.

Have you preclaimed your fat quarter bundle of this gorgeous line yet?  It's amazing!  I have mine reserved!  There are 20 different fabrics in this line and you can preclaim your bundle today!  It will ship as soon as it arrives in our shop!

When I said yesterday that this line is inspiring....it is so inspiring!  I kept changing my mind on what I wanted to make...I finally made a decision to try a modern style quilt and I show off Houston in the process.  I've even thought about stitching #HoustonStrong in the edge.

I started with a basic beginner wonky block.  I simply love this block and feel that it should be used more.  There is something about making the wonky block without being restricted to certain measurements that is freeing and therapeutic for me.  Same thing about sewing back and forth on a scrap piece of fabric until it is dense with threads.

If you are interested in learning how to make the Wonky Block - Lynda with Flash Fiction Mystery Quilt has given us the green light to share her how to video here!

Back to our modern quilt project!

I'm using Wonderfil Specialty Threads.  I love them.  Once you sew with them, you will love them too!  Their thread lines are nearly lintless!  I do not have to clean out my machine after every single project like I would with other thread lines.

Wonderfil has several lines that I like to use!  Efina is their 60 wt cotton thread.  InvisaFil is their 100 wt cottonized polyester thread.  Both of which are excellent for piecing and quilting your projects!  I also love variegated threads and Tutti is my go to.  These three thread lines will be the ones I will use in this project to finish it.  I also have them available in the shop!  You can email me or order online!  I'm always happy to help!

Jameson & Bailey (my kiddos: 4 & 7) both found stitches they wanted to add to this modern quilt piece.
The spirals in the sky, the stars in the sky, & the hearts on the buildings....
But hey, when you are encouraging the you g kiddos to learn the art of quilting - you let them create....even if it means they take over your project. ♥️♥️♥️.
The oldest loves it so much she wants to hang in her room!!! #winnerwinnerchickendinner
