It’s Time to Celebrate!

I grew up in a religious denomination that does not celebrate birthdays because John the Baptist lost his head at a birthday party.  I’m pretty sure that if I went to a party at the age of 12 or so, I would not have lost my head.  Well, maybe not physically…maybe with all the sugar!  LOL.

At the age of 37, I’ve only had one birthday party and it was a surprise…and it was while I was in high school…and it wasn’t really my birthday.  I missed out on all of my birthdays, technically.  We are no longer members of that religious sect, but now I get birthday cards and sometimes presents…

As a new first time mom…I want my daughter to celebrate her birthday.  And why the heck not?  It was amazing for her to be born.  We had complications starting from 4 months when the doctor noticed her umbilical cord seperating from the placenta, multiple times on bedrest, multiple trips per week for observation inside the hospital, Bailey got stuck during delivery, emergency c-section…I think it’s worth celebrating her birth!  It’s amazing to me that with all of the complications we’ve had, she seems perfect!

So…I have sent the party invites to friends and family to come celebrate our “little cupcake” with cupcakes!  The party is right around the corner and I think I’m more excited than anyone else.

Party decorations have been purchased and delivered…birthday gift has been purchased and wrapped…Food has been planned…Party in T-minus 4 days!
